With Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) apparently cured, a skeptical Tara (Rutina Wesley) consults with Miss Jeanette (Aisha Hinds) about exorcising her own inner demon. Sookie returns home to yet another horrific tragedy, prompting Bill to enlist an unlikely bodyguard – Sam (Sam Trammell) – to protect her while he's away.

Written by Brian Buckner; directed by Anthony Hemingway.

Episode #10: “I Don't Wanna Know”
Debut: SUNDAY, NOV. 9 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Other HBO playdates: Nov. 9 (midnight), 11 (11:30 p.m.), 12 (10:00 p.m.), 13 (8:00 p.m., 2:30 a.m.), 14 (midnight), and 15 (2:00 a.m. ET/11:15 p.m. PT) HBO2 playdates: Nov. 10 (8:00 p.m.) and 16 (3:30 p.m.)

Caught in a compromising position, Sam shares a secret with an incredulous Sookie. Thinking she's been purged of her demon, Tara celebrates with Lettie Mae – but goes off the deep end when she uncovers Miss Jeanette's true intentions. Sookie has a disturbing revelation during Arlene (Carrie Preston) and Rene's (Michael Raymond James) engagement party at Merlotte's; Jason and Amy debate what to do with Eddie; and Tara speeds into a bizarre roadside encounter that lands her in jail. At a vampire tribunal to decide his fate, Bill faces a harsh penalty for his offense, but the magister (Zelijko Ivanek) decides on a more creative sentence involving a young human named Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll).

Bill fulfills the conditions of the tribunal's sentence, although he and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) find that Jessica doesn't quite turn (out) as expected. Trying to solve the mystery behind her most recent vision, Sookie heads to a pie shop with Sam and later puts the squeeze on a philandering police officer to get info. Jason helps clean up Amy's mess, worrying about their future, but unable to break away. Tara's anger over Lettie Mae's refusal to bail her out of jail is tempered when Maryann Forrester (Michelle Forbes), a wealthy “social worker,” comes to her rescue. Disgusted by the hypocrisy of a vamp-bashing state senator, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) decides to pay him a visit on the campaign trail. In Bill's absence, a vulnerable Sookie finds comfort in Sam. Wow! Looks like they are changing quite a few things!

Sookie returns home to yet another horrific tragedy, prompting Bill to enlist an unlikely bodyguard – Sam (Sam Trammell) – to protect her while he's away.

I guess that means no Bubba then. :(

Likely difficult to find a "Bubba" look-alike who can also act.

only 12 episodes! How will I ever survive it!? LOL

Sounds like as much as Ball is staying with the book, he also has his own direction. New characters, I may have to re-read the book but I don't remember any of the tribunal stuff or this Jessica. No mention of Sookie doing a favor for Eric, but I know that is comming because I have seen the picture of the end result on the HBO forum. Or at least I assume so because it fits, could be something else entirely I suppose.

argh, the fustration. Which is why I adore this show, even having read the books still enough surprises mixed in with knowing what is going to happen to make it must see tv.

ETA: oh I think if they can make Kurt Russell in to a believeable you-know-who, they can find someone to be a suitable Bubba. Makeup & hair dye work wonders, plus he doesn't have to be exactly right, just enough to make you go "hmmm?". Remember Sookie says not everyone recognizes him. lol Might be issues with a certain estate getting permission.

You won't find a Jessica or a tribunal stuff anywhere in the books 'cause it isn't there.

I'm going to be so sad if the show doesn't have enough Eric love. But they're handling things okay so far, idk...

I had read the episode descriptions earlier in the week, but these are much more detailed, THANK YOU!! I know a ton of people that have read the books and they told me that if they follow the first one Eric wasn't in it much..but BUT they did tell me that Bill's offense should be Eric's..which makes me go grrrrrr..yes, I'm a total Eric fan already, part, I like the character another part, I'm a huge fan of Alexander's and I really like the way he's playing Eric. (and yes, I do want to see more of him too *smile*)

You should really read the books, you'll see why everyone (well almost everyone) ditched Bill for Eric. I liked Bill at first but then slowly (well actually it was quite fast, book Bill just broods all day long) feel in love with Eric.

In the book it is indeed Eric who does the deed. I think their trying to make Bill come of "better" than he is in the books.

Interesting. It looks like they have really changed some things from the books.

OK, I'm thinking if you read this entry you might not care about book spoilers either. But just in case you do....there are some in my comment.

So does this mean no Bubba? I was really looking forward to him making an appearance. But I can understand why they want to give the regulars more screen time. That is an interesting change in how Sookie finds out about Sam. And it fits very well.

The Bill tribunal has me a little concerned. Whaaaaaat? *wibble*

And I just realized they took a big part away from Eric. I am conflicted. Hm.

Who is Jessica? She must be a new character. It sounds like how she comes about is going to be very intriguing and possibly really annoy Sookie. Oh wait, is this what drives a wedge between Bill and Sookie? I predict angst. I guess that pretty much goes without saying. lol.

I can understand why there is a lack of Eric in this season so far when there should be way more of him, because the first two books are pointedly about Sookie/Bill's relationship and the developement in their characters as they deal all the crap they go through, good and bad. Hopefully if this show gets pegged for more than its two seasons and---if Ball sticks to his idea where each season will revolve around each book---then we should expect much more of Eric in the future. He becomes as huge presence in Sookie's life later on that I can't really see how Ball would be able to swing around the scripts and try to alter Eric's story/scenes without fucking everything up.

My fear is that it'll be like Dexer where only the first season follows the books and they go off in their own direction and we'll never get all the fantastic Eric (and Eric/Sookie) stuff.

If the other seasons follow season 1's format, by following the books but with changes here and there I'll be pleased. I do hope Eric gets more screen time, I don't just want them to focus on Bill and Sookie the whole time, and then lead people to believe their meant to be, because honestly I don't see them getting back together in the books. It's not Eric's fault that Charlaine found him more more fun to write than Bill.

I've only read one book and I love Sookie/Bill. Personally, I don't give a crap about Eric and I'm upset to know that Bill and Sookie break up later and she dates him.

I really hope that the show stays with the Sookie/Bill pairing always.

I think you might change your mind after reading the other books. Then again, maybe not; but keep an open mind anyways - it seems Charlaine's world and Alan Ball's world of Sookie Stackhouse are going to be a bit different. I'm interested to see how they both turn out. :)

I really was hoping that they didn't kill Tina, but I have no hopes now.

Thanks for the descriptions.

I am very excited for the last few episode. I'm glad that Bill NOT Eric will Stake LongShadow.
I don't care if we get more Eric or not, doesn't faze me..
But it seems Bill will be saving Sookie, more than once this season! ♥

I'm surprised about Jason, he is always up to some stupid stuff. But Vampires? Oh boy.

Its good that we're gonna get Sam's reveal, and to Sookie as well. Would solve some questions about him.

[info]bluebear_74

October 12 2008, 14:31:45 UTC 3 years ago

I'm bummed that they changed it to Bill staking Longshadow, may seem like a smallish detail now, but in the long run it effects the later plot. I'm hoping for more Eric, so I hope they make up for it with other scenes.

I hope Sam's reveal is like the book because it's quite funny.
